This image is should be buildt on our way of living out our values, and we want all tour organizers, anglers, boat owners and other cooperators to strive to fullfill our four valus and thereby secure a sustainable sea angling industry.
OUR FOUR VALUES:
CHALLENGE It should be a challenging adventure to explore the sea of the Faroes. A challenge to catch the biggest fish. A challenge to enjoy the rough and breathtaking touch of nature. A challenge to get here, and to say goodbye at the end of the trip. But mostly the ever more intriguing challenge and at the same time the charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of that which is elusive but attainable.
SUSTAINABILITY Everybody concerned with fishing in the Faroes take great pride in meeting all requirements for running an environmentally sustainable industry. Our common aim is to secure a healthy and sustainable industry with surplus however without environmental costs. To fulfill this goal guidelines are being formulated that boat owners and anglers have to comply with. This is done in cooperation with The Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Fisheries and Natural Resources and Faroese Fisheries Laboratory.
QUALITY We strive to meet the highest standards both concerning the product it self and the service around the core product.
There is a wide range of high standards that the boats have to fullfill to be registered as tourist fishing boats.
Quality check | The boats have to be in good condition and meet all safety requirements. Guide as well as safety guidelines and equipment are to be on board. Maps of the nearby environment and tide maps are to be available. Local accommodation arrangements are provided.
CLEANLINESS Cleanliness is a core value both concerning the boats and concerning the environment we float in. We strive to meet all necessary need to provide a clean boat, equipment and a clean nature. It is especially important to keep the equipment clean. Here are some guidelines that the boat owners follow:
The following methods may be used for cleaning:
- The equipment is cleaned in clean water, dried and kept for at least 2 days at 20 degrees.
- The equipment is cleaned in clean water and kept at least 60 degrees for at least one hour.
- The equipment is submersed into disinfection agents for at least 10 minutes and then rinsed with clean water.
The boat owners do not mind if you bring along your own equipment, but you must adhere closely to the health authorities' regulations. In order to avoid infecting fish and other marine animals with infections, all used fishing equipment must be cleaned and disinfected. The disinfection requirements include fishing rods, reels, lines, hooks, flies, fishing boots and other equipment coming into contact with fishing waters. Each time the equipment has been in use, it must be cleaned and rinsed thoroughly so that the salt water and all filth is removed. Then it must be dried off and brought to a dry and warm place so fishing reels, lines, and hooks dry quickly.
