THE MEAT | The Cod is a popular food fish with a mild flavor, low fat content and a dense white flesh that flakes easily.
SIZE | The Cod can grow to become 180-200 cm long. However mostly it is 50-120 cm long. Its average weight is 5 kg to 12 kg (10 lb to 25 lb), but specimens weighing up to 100 kg (200 lb) have been recorded.
DEPTH | It breeds form the surface of the water down to at least 600 meters depth. The cod is mostly at the bottom, however it is not a rare sight to see a Cod up in the sea.
COLOUR | The normal colour is greybrown, It is yellowgreen at the back and at the sides. It has tight, dark, grey and brownich spots. It is light under the stomach – white or greywhite. However it also has other colours such as darkbrown and redbrown. The line is white/greywhite.
