TUSK | The Tusk is long and wide in its body shape. The cross-section is almost round. It has a long dorsal fin that starts half way over the pectoral fin and reaches all the way back to its tail. The Tusk has one anal fin from the middle of the fish all the way back to the tail. It has wide and rounded pectoral fins and small ventral fins. The tail is rather small and rounded. The line is bended above the pectoral fin. The Tusk has a small head, small eyes, small jaw and small teeth and fin.

SIZE | The Tusk can grow to become 120 cm long, however the normal lenght is around 40 – 90 cm.

DEPTH | The Tusk breeds at the bottom where it is not too deep. At around 20 meters to 1500 meters or more.

COLOUR
| The colour is variable. Brownish-grey, paler on belly, dorsal and anal fins have black band near margin edged with white. Mostly it has 5-6 stripes on its sides.

CHARACTERISTICS | The colours on the edges of the fins and that the Tusk does only have one dorsal fin and one anal fin.

FOOD
| Molluscs and crustaceans.

REPRODUCTION
| From May to July, in shallower waters, between 40-400 meters, usually from 100 to 200 meters.

WHERE TO CATCH IT
| Eastern North Atlantic from British Isles to western Barents Sea, Iceland, Skagerrak, Kattegat, also western North Atlantic.
